Surfacing

Professional surfacing solutions for highways, carriageways, car parks, access routes, footways and external hardstanding areas. From reinstatement and reactive repairs through to large-scale infrastructure and highway surfacing schemes, Groundfix delivers quality asphalt and surfacing works across the South West.

Why choose us

Not your average surfacing contractor

Most contractors are either too small to scale or too big to react. Groundfix is built differently.

With extensive operational resources, major investment in plant and machinery, rapid mobilisation, a responsive commercial team, digital programme and QA reporting as well as forward-thinking AI technology, we’re built for scale.

Accredited to ISO 9001 and NHSS Sector 16 standards, we combine the structure and capability of a major contractor with the responsiveness and agility of a specialist.

Structured like a major contractor. Responsive like a specialist.

NHSS Sector Scheme 16 Accredited

Groundfix is accredited to NHSS Sector Scheme 16, the recognised quality standard for highway maintenance and surfacing operations. This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to safety, compliance, workforce competency, and delivering surfacing works to nationally approved industry standards.

ISO9001 Accredited

Groundfix is ISO 9001 accredited, demonstrating our commitment to consistent quality management, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across every project. This internationally recognised standard gives our clients confidence that our processes, reporting, and delivery are structured to achieve reliable, high-quality outcomes at scale.

In-House Fleet

We own and operate our own surfacing fleet, giving us direct control over programme, quality and cost. No dependency on hired plant or third-party availability — we mobilise when the job needs us, not when equipment becomes free.

Residential, Commercial & Highways

From carriageways and industrial yards to car parks, footways, and reinstatement works, our surfacing teams deliver across a wide range of sectors and project types. Base, binder, and surface course works are all delivered in-house — to specification, on programme, and with the quality assurance clients expect from a major contractor.

How we work

How we deliver surfacing works

Pre-Start Planning

We review drawings, specifications and programme requirements before works commence. Material grades, plant requirements, traffic management and sequencing are agreed in advance so the job runs smoothly from day one.

Preparation & Base Works

Sound surfacing starts with sound preparation. Our teams manage sub-base preparation, kerbing, drainage and base course works before any asphalt is laid — ensuring finished levels and falls are correct throughout.

Laying & Compaction

Our in-house paver and experienced operatives lay and compact binder and surface course to EN 13108 specification. Every pour is monitored for temperature, thickness and finish quality before the next phase proceeds.

Handover & Sign-Off

On completion, we provide the client with as-built records, material certificates and any documentation required for adoption or handover. Works are inspected and signed off before we leave site.

"Groundfix brings the right combination of experience and resource to demanding programmes. Our surfacing crews are accredited, our civils teams know what they're doing, and our commercial team are straightforward to deal with. We're a contractor that does what it says it will do."
